Silver haul for swimmers

Arundel Trinity Swimmers came away from the Isle of Wight with a magnificent six silver trophies and ten top three finishes, after taking part in a challenging two and a half mile sea swim from Sandown to Shanklin.

Last year, at the same event, club head coach Steve Belt Won the men's over 50 cup and he was hoping for more success for his group of swimmers this year.

Katie Butcher (21)of East Preston, won the women's race in 32 minutes 54 seconds and was placed second in the overall main event just two and a half minutes behind the 28 year old male winner of the race in her first open water event.

Ian Gilmour won the over 50's men's race and was placed fifth overall, and Worthing's Sarah Cotton was third woman, while the club's social secretary Michelle Chittenden (43) from Ferring won the women's over 40 trophy. Kate Butchers mother, Pauline Butcher of Durrington, clinched the fifth win of the club's day picking up the women's over 50 cup and Abbie Faulkes(41) crossed the finish line as second woman over 40.
