Despite a jumble sale earlier in the month, the Staplecross and Ewhurst Bonfire Society’s event last Saturday was very successful with something in the region of £600 being raised.

The old time music hall evening planned for tomorrow (Saturday) at Staplecross village hall promises to be great fun. There will be café style tables of 8 or 10 at £12 a head which includes supper and there will be a licensed bar. Make up a table or buy individual tickets to join a table and make new friends. Tickets may still be on sale from Glenys Griffiths 01580-830491 so give her a ring should you want to join in. Pat and Peter Smith have been preparing this event for many weeks and are being supported by their many musical friends from around the country. The doors open at 6.45pm. Song sheets will be provided so everyone can join in.

The next meeting of the Institute will be held as always in the Church Room in Northiam Road on Tuesday April 2 at 2.30pm when Sue Hollings will be talking about her life as a couture dressmaker. The members also hold craft afternoons on the third Tuesday of the month with many handicrafts involved from knitting to quilting. Anyone wishing for further information on joining should contact the President Ann Prodinger on 01580-831944.
