VILLAGE LIFE THROUGHOUT EWHURST PARISH: Comprising of the villages of Cripps Corner, Ewhurst Green and Staplecross , - will be settling down once more into a gentler pace, now that the flurry of Easter and our first Bank Holiday ‘break’ has come and gone. That’s not to say that there won’t be anything to enjoy or look forward to, or that life will be passing us by within our parish- as many events are being planned for us all to enjoy in the coming months. Our local children are preparing for their return to school and, no doubt, looking forward to taking part in all the exciting things that are lined up for them to enjoy in the summer months and our various sports clubs - both indoors and out - have also full fixture lists encouraging us to go along and support them or perhaps think about becoming members
STAPLECROSS BOWLS CLUB: Is one such group and having already had a very busy work day recently preparing their ground and social club room/pavilion in readiness for their full calendar, the club members will be holding a Coffee Morning in their Bowls Club Pavilion, at Northiam Road, Staplecross, on Saturday April 11th at 10.30am (Tomorrow) This could be a perfect opportunity to come along and meet the people behind the scenes, so to speak !. If you have been considering taking up this sport, then this is an excellent chance to take it forward, talk to those who know, play and love the game. Come along and meet the members and find out more about this fascinating sport. A welcoming ‘Opening Day Bowls Drive’ has also been arranged to take place on Saturday April 18th -2.0pm for 2.30pm. If this wasn’t enough - 2 x New Members Sessions are booked- the first is for Sunday April 19th at 2.30pm and the second is for the following Friday April 24th at 6.0pm. both to take place at the Bowls Club. Do pop along, meet the members and supporters alike of this friendly and welcoming club. EWHURST PARISH COUNCIL- ANNUAL PARISH ASSEMBLY: Just to jog your memory and to make sure you reserve this important date- Tuesday April 14th 7.15pm at Staplecross Village Hall, Northiam Road, Staplecross, - You are all cordially invited to join your local Parish Councillors, together with Rother District Council and East Sussex County Council Councillors and representatives from the Highways Department and Neighbourhood Planning at this important event. We would like you all to come along and meet those people who serve you on all three tiers of local government, to enjoy the refreshments provided by our local W.I. (-come early-) and to visit the various stalls and displays that are promoting the various groups and societies that abound throughout our parish. There will be plenty of opportunities to raise any concerns you may have which are relevant to the parish. This meeting is open to both public and press and is always enjoyed by all who attend. So come along and tell us what you want from your councils and how you think we can serve you best.
STAPLECROSS LUNCH CLUB: This may only be a rather small dining group, but what it may lack in numbers, more than makes up for in its friendly and welcoming manner. Of course the main item to tempt you into becoming a part of this group is the superb and delicious meals that are served every month, and this next meeting, for Wednesday April 15th is no exception. Gathering at 12.30pm at the Village Hall, Northiam Road, Staplecross the ladies and gentlemen will meet up again for yet another delectable 2 course lunch- and the menu for this week is Roast Pork, accompanied by all the usual trimmings, followed by Lemon tray-bake, served with either sauce, custard or cream, completing this yummy repast will be tea or coffee. All this will not break the bank as the cost for the meal is only £6:00 per person. Sadly (for some!) this lively and happy social dining group is only available to those of a certain age (You have to be over 50 years young/old -depending on your outlook) - and agree to attend every month unless you notify us otherwise. How simple is that ? The members are a great bunch of people who would love for you to join them, so if you’d like to do so, please contact either Sally on 01580~8300000 or Dennis on 01580~830816 for all further information and to reserve your place at our table.

PUBLIC ACCESS DEFIBULATOR (PAD) TRAINING SESSION: Now that Ewhurst Parish Council in conjunction with Rother Responders have installed a P.A.D. (- known as ‘De-fibs’) at each of our 3 village pubs, - the Cross Inn at Staplecross; the White Dog at Ewhurst Green and the White Hart at Cripps Corner, and with grateful thanks sent to our lovely landlords/landladies for their kind support and co-operation, it seems only sensible to show as many people as possible how to use them !. Therefore a FREE TRAINING SESSION has been arranged by Ewhurst parish council again in conjunction with Rother Responders for ALL members of the public to come along and have a go at using these vital pieces of life saving equipment. Arranged for Thursday April 16th between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at St. Marks Church room, Northiam Road, Staplecross, TN31 5QH. this could be a real opportunity to allay any fear or trepidation regarding these machines. These units are very easy to use, with full vocal instructions at every step of the way, hopefully putting your mind at rest and at the end of the short session, you’ll wonder what you were so concerned about as you’ll feel more confident and capable in yourself after this little simple training session. No-one knows what’s around the corner for us, therefore the more help we can get, the more we can give. Come along and give it a try - for who knows when we may be thankful that we did.
