After a great performance last week by Gigspanner, Stade Saturdays delivered again with the first class Tiger Lillies.
The large and appreciative crowd greeted the white face painted three-piece, with Martyn Jacques on vocals, accordion and piano, Adrian Stout upright bass, theremin and musical saw(!) and Adrian Huge on drums.
They delivered dark-humoured cabaret with stories in song of love, infidelity, tortured souls, despair, whores, pain and woe with a Parisian/Russian Jacque Brel feel.
The highlight was the haunting sound of a saw being played with the violin bow and piano accompaniment. The audience brought them back for the sing along encore of Banging in the Nails and Auntie Mabel.
