Sunday travel news across Sussex

A fallen power cable is causing traffic congestion on the A27 at Lewes this morning (July 5).

The A27 in Lewes is closed and there are delays around the Ashcombe roundabout and Southerham roundabout because of a fallen power cable.

There are partial road closures in place and traffic is being diverted into Lewes town centre, although lorries are not allowed to sue this route.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 9am today.

Motorists are advised to find alternative routes if possible.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said UK Power Network is at the scene attempting to fix the issue.

Elsewhere, there are no known incidents on any of the south’s major roads.

On the trains, on the Southern service between Horsham and London Bridge there is a revised service due to engineering works.

Trains will be diverted to run to/from London Victoria instead of London Bridge today.

Trains will also not stop at Norwood Junction or New Cross Gate.

Service has been suspended on First Great Western between Brighton and Fareham due to engineering works.

No First Great Western trains run to/from Brighton today. Southern trains will run between Brighton and Havant before 4pm, with buses replacing trains between Havant and Fareham, and between Brighton and Fareham after 4pm.

There is a replacement bus service running on First Great Western between Portsmouth Harbour and Fareham due to engineering works. Buses will replace trains on Sunday until 4pm.

There are no reported problems on Wightlink, Hover Travel, Or Brittany Ferries today.
