A BATTLE resident held a Blooming Great Tea Party this week to help raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Jackie Tompsett opened up her house and garden for the event, which included a tombola stall, guess the weight of the cake competition, jewellery stall as well as delicious tea and cakes on offer.
The money raised from the Blooming Great Tea Party will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal cancer and other terminal illnesses in their own homes.
Jackie said: “We were really lucky that the sun came out for our Blooming Great Tea Party.
“All our neighbours came and many people donated cakes which meant we had spares to sell at the end of the day.
“We had a cake the shape of a teapot for guess the weight of the cake competition and my husband even gave guests a tour to visit our new-born piglets!
“We were really happy to raise over £200 which will benefit Marie Curie Cancer Care and help provide free nursing care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes.”
Marie Curie Cancer Care is encouraging everybody to hold a Blooming Great Tea Party during July.
It can be as simple as a cuppa with colleagues, a vintage inspired tea party with friends or even a larger party to celebrate the Olympics.
