The Bard is back

THE BARD was back at North Lancing First and Middle School last week for a production of Much Ado About Nothing with a difference.

Teacher Rita Lintern said that the production featured pupils from year seven who performed William Shakespeare's play in modern-day costumes.

The 12-year-old students had helped make some of the props for the play.

Mrs Lintern and fellow teacher Victoria Levine produced it.

Mrs Lintern said: "They studied it earlier in the year and then we decided to put it on as part of the drama club in the school."

She added that, despite the modern costumes, the pupils still spoke the traditional iambic verse and thoroughly enjoyed it.

"It's been such a success that we're planning to do Macbeth next year in modern dress," Mrs Lintern added.
