Police were called to dunes at West Beach, Littlehampton, at 2pm on Monday (May 5) after a woman reported a group of naked men engaging in ‘lewd behaviour’ within sight of several families.

Officers attended but the men had dispersed and no arrests were made.

Sergeant Andy Baynes, of Littlehampton police, said: “Unfortunately, and possibly due to the remote location, this sort of behaviour does occasionally cause problems, especially when the weather is fine.

“It amounts to gross indecency and is an offence which we will investigate if asked to do so.”

Anyone who witnessed Monday’s incident, or who has other information, should phone Sussex Police on 101 or email [email protected], quoting serial 764 of 5/5.

PCSO Michelle Davis is now urging nudists to stay away from the beach.

She said: “We would definitely encourage the public to remember families attend this area and to use confirmed naturist beach areas.”
