Jason Montague, of Tunbridge Wells, was heading westbound when he lost control of his Honda Fireblade bike and struck a lamp post.

He was treated for serious injuries by an ambulance crew but died a short while later at the Conquest Hospital, Hastings.

The accident happened near the point where the 40mph speed restriction becomes 30mph.

It is the third death on the dual carriageway stretch of the A259 in a 15-month period and comes almost a year after the Highways Agency admitted a string of safety precautions are needed.

Calls for action were renewed this week.
