Neighbourhood Wardens Carol Boniface and Vanessa Green joined staff from Tesco, Pulborough Parish Council and a resident volunteer for the Pocket Park Project over Sunday and Monday.

Vanessa said the clear-up involved litter picking, removing brambles, clearing pathways and clearing the stream of debris.

“It was very rewarding to see the end results and we are now looking for volunteers to help maintain the area,” she said.

The team aimed to work without disrupting the wildlife habitat, which had become neglected and run down over time.

When Tesco took it on as a community project to try and revitalise the area, the wardens were keen to help, explained Carol.

Karen Brooks, community champion for Tesco, said: “This is a project that I am keen to drive forward for the community.

“The difference the volunteers have made in just a couple of days is huge as the area looks much cleaner and clearer now.”
