Caroline Toms, of Kirdford Close, managed to complete the gruelling cross-county London to Brighton race for the second time, raising almost £600 for a charity close to her heart.

The mum-of-two was being sponsored for Tourette’s Action – a cause which has proved a vital lifeline for her nine-year-old nephew, Cameron, who has Tourette’s Syndrome.

Speaking of her race, she said: “The weather was really, really bad.

“The rain was just constant and it got worse during the day. There were some torrential downpours, which were horrible.

“I got to the halfway point and there was just thunder and lightning. It was pretty intense.”
