Biker seriously hurt in crash

A 38-year-old man from Ninfield has been flown to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries after his Aprilia motorbike collided with a postal van near Rye on Saturday.

Police and emergency services were called to Udimore Road, near Stubb Lane at around 11.55am. It is thought the motorcyclist, who was travelling west, collided with the rear of the van also travelling west.

PC Jonathan Cook from East Sussex Road Policing Unit said: “The motorcyclist has received several fractures and internal injuries but is fortunately now stable in hospital.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the saw the Aprilia motorbike, that may have been accompanied by other motorcyclists prior to the incident. Please call 101 quoting Op Pickwell if you any information that could help police with their enquiries.”

The 58-year-old van driver, also from East Sussex, was uninjured.
