Cyclist seriously injured in Poynings collision

A cyclist, 55, suffered serious back and shoulder injuries after he was in collision with an Iveco seven-tonne horse-box on the A281 Henfield Road at Poynings, near Park Wood Scout Camp, on Saturday (16 November) just after 5pm.

The cyclist, who was riding a maroon racing cycle, and the horse-box were both travelling south when the collision occurred.

The cyclist was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, and detained for treatment.

The driver of the horse-box, a 51-year-old woman, was unhurt.
