Sussex travel: These roads are closed due to collisions and flooding as Environment Agency warnings remain in place

Multiple roads are closed in Sussex due to flooding and collisions this evening (Friday, November 4).

Following Storm Claudio, flooding is continuing to cause chaos on roads on Friday (November 4). There have been days of widespread disruption across the county as heavy rain caused river levels to rise.

The Environment Agency still has three flood warnings and 17 alerts in place across the South East.

Multiple road traffic incidents have been reported across Sussex, this evening:

- A serious collision involving a motorbike was reported earlier this afternoon in Steyning. A283 Steyning Road remains closed both ways between Bushovel Farm and Wiston Park but the closure has reportedly been shortened.

- Three vehicle collision on on A27 Chichester Bypass both ways at A259 (Bognor Bridge Roundabout). The road is open but there is slow traffic. Severe delays have been reported on A27 Chichester Bypass, westbound between Watery Lane and A286 Stockbridge Road (Stockbridge Roundabout).

- Two car collision on B2140 Ash Lane both ways around Ashwood Drive in Littlehampton.

- Single-vehicle collision on Coombes Road both ways around The Drive in Shoreham-by-Sea.

- B2110 High Street is partially blocked both ways near The Red Lion Pub in Handcross due to a collision, involving a car and a bike.

- Overdene Drive is partially blocked southbound at Gossops Green Lane in Crawley due to a collision between a van and a car.

- In Hastings, A259 Old London Road is partially blocked both ways around the B2093 after a vehicle and a person collided.

- A crash has resulted in the closure of Valley Road, both ways from Wickhurst Road to Drove Crescent in Portslade.

- In Brighton, St Mary Magdalene Street is partially closed both ways at A270 Lewes Road, due to collision involving a car and an electric scooter.

- Barcombe Mills Road is closed both ways from Wellingham Lane to Crink Hill.

- In Blackboys, Gun Road remains closed between Shepherds Hill and High Street due to flooding. The road closure has been in place since Thursday morning.

Three flood warnings, and 17 flood alerts, remain in place in the South East.

Flooding is expected in Alfriston, Barcombe Mills and Mock Bridge, near Shermanbury on the River Adur.

Flooding is possible at; Cuckmere River; Lower River Medway; River Adur East Branch; River Mole; River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal; Rivers Eden and Eden Brook; River Uck; South East Somerset Rivers, Upper Reaches; Upper Ouse; Upper River Medway; Upper River Mole, Ifield Brook, Gatwick Stream and Burstow Stream and Upper River Wey.
