Travelling families move on
Travellers camped on the Luxford car park in Uckfield have left the site after being served with an official police notice.
Up to 10 caravans moved onto the council-owned site on Sunday last week, sparking complaints from a number of local residents.
On Wednesday, police officers accompanied representatives from Wealden District Council (WDC) served the travellers with a notice to evacuate; giving them until yesterday to leave.
WDC spokesman Jim Van Dem Bos confirmed the travellers left the car park on Thursday lunchtime (March 29).
