Tudor Rose in bloom at Battle Abbey
Beautiful Battle, along with the children of Battle Pre-School Playgroup and the Battle and Langton School Gardening Club, created a floral design on the apron of Battle Abbey recently.
The design is the Tudor Rose, representing the White Rose of the House of Lancaster and the Red Rose of the House of York, adopted by Henry VII on his marriage to Elizabeth of York.
The design uses marigolds, impatiens and parsley. Battle Pre-School Playgroup and the Battle and Langton School Gardening Club were given 50 marigold plug plants each in the spring to grow on for the display.

Hide AdBeautiful Battle grew the remainder of the plants in one of the greenhouses at Uckham Lane Nurseries.
Last Thursday (July 4), the school children brought their plants to the Abbey and, with the help of Beautiful Battle volunteers, planted the final part of the design.
