Turning up the heat on the yobs yields results

GORING residents and local police turned up the heat on perpetrators of yob behaviour during the recent spell of warm weather.

Goring Action Group has kept up its sustained campaign of recording and reporting incidents and keeping roads leading to and from the Greensward and beach an anti-social behaviour no-go zone.

Keith Colbourne, co-ordinator of the Goring Action Group, has led the campaign to reduce yobbishness on the area's streets over the past three years.

He said: "Hundreds of Goring residents have agreed that they're prepared to record and report every incident of anti-social behaviour to the police and to our action group as they happen, which all go to help the police to prevent problems even before they start, as well as achieving warnings, arrests and convictions.

"As a result, the combined efforts of the police and residents have resulted in a marked reduction in anti-social behaviour-related crime on the streets of Goring. Anti-social behaviour incidents were quickly nipped in the bud during the recent hot weather when hundreds enjoyed the beach and the Greensward."
