Two little ducks go on an adventure in Shoreham...

TWO little ducks which made a bid for freedom last week are now back home safe and well.

Sallie Clark, 47, found two of her ducks had gone missing from her back garden, in The Drive, Shoreham.

She began asking friends and neighbours for help, and one of the birds was soon found in a nearby garden '“ but the other was nowhere to be found.

She said: "I had been round the streets asking if anyone had seen them, giving out my phone number. I even gave my number to the postman, in case he saw the duck on his rounds."

Mrs Clark had given up hope of finding the missing bird, when a friend suggested she checked the Swiss Cottage pub, in Old Shoreham Road, Shoreham, which has a large pond in its garden.

When Mrs Clark arrived, she found a Worthing and District Animal Rescue Service (WADARS) van parked outside and went into the garden to see her duck about to be released onto the pond.

"It was just such good timing," she said. "I want to say thank you to everyone who helped me find my ducks and who expressed their concern. It shows real community spirit that so many people cared."

Mrs Clark added she wanted to particularly thank the woman who had handed her duck in, WADARS staff, the landlady at the Swiss Cottage and her neighbour whose garden the duck was found in.

She said: "They have never gone missing before, but because of the spring growth in their wings, they obviously decided to go for a little adventure before I got a chance to clip them again."
