The third of this year’s Lent Lunches, in St Mary’s Community Hall last Wednesday, went extremely well, providing supporters with another very good meal, and another enjoyable social occasion. Liz Turgoose has asked me to thank everyone involved in helping with these lunches, which raised a substantial sum for the charities supported by the Overseas Group.

There was another full house in the Hall last Friday evening for a powerpoint presentation on wetland wildlife for the Udimore Wildlife Group. The presenter, Fran Southgate, of Sussex Wildlife Trust, spoke of the fundamental importance of water and wetlands to us all. The Trust is playing its part in preserving and extending these vital resources, she told us, with some encouraging results, though much still needs to be done.

At noon today, Good Friday, there will be a service of prayer and meditation in St Mary’s Church. The morning Family Eucharist there on Easter Sunday is due to start at 11.15am, to be followed by refreshments in the Hall.

Next Thursday afternoon, April 24, at the monthly meeting of the Craft and Chatter Group in the Hall ,Jackie Rogers will be sharing her knowledge with those present to deliver a Printing Session, in which you’ll be invited to participate (unless you’d prefer to bring along your own work as usual).

For the Printing Session you’ll need:

some dark fabric,

some nice fresh leaves with nice veining, kept flat,

a kitchen roll,

a jam jar for water,

a piece of glass or a large plate, for paint,

a small sponge,

thin rubber gloves,

a small quantity of matt emulsion paint, white or of a light colour,

a plastic sheet or sheet of newspaper to work on.

This will be an opportunity to try something new, and have some fun!

For the past few days I’ve been unable to receive emails (my previous internet service provider having suddenly decided to withdraw its services). My apologies to anyone who’s sent me items of news that haven’t got through to me. From now on this shouldn’t be a problem, if you use Matty’s and my new email address: mrholmes123@btinternet.com

We’d like to wish you all a Happy Easter!
