FUNERAL: Val Deakin’s funeral service will be in St Mary’s Church at noon tomorrow (Saturday).

SUNDAY SERVICE: In St Mary’s the 9.30am Sung Family Eucharist will be followed by refreshments in the Hall. All welcome, children included.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: Our parish councillors will be holding their next meeting at 6.30pm on Wednesday (January 20) in the Hall. By then all Udimore residents may well have received the latest newsletter, with details of the agenda, but among the items discussed will be recent progress towards installing traffic-calming measures on the B2089. It will be well worth coming along to hear more about this, and to express your opinions on what is being proposed.

WINTER LUNCH: If you don’t want to miss a delectable two-course hot lunch in the Hall at 12.45pm on Thursday (January 21) but don’t yet have tickets, it’s not too late to apply for them. They cost a modest £9.50 (bring your own drinks) and may be obtained from Lyn (01424 833040), Stella (01424 883246) or Matt (01424 883285), as soon as possible, please. This is one of a series of convivial lunches (and raffles) arranged by the Brede and Udimore Overseas Group to raise funds for the four active charities supported by the group.

UDIMORE WILDLIFE SOCIETY: There has been much recent concern about the future of the Society, which hasn’t held meetings for some time now. The committee is due to meet later this month to discuss the way forward. I hope to be able to publish details in this column next week.
