PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: With apologies for the long delay, I’m now able to report that at the meeting on July 20 Diane Hayes was welcomed onto the Council as a co-opted member, taking the place of Cllr Colin Knight, now that he and his family no longer live in the parish.

Discussing various planning applications submitted for their provisional approval, councillors raised no objection to the proposed demolition of the old Udimore Garage building and the construction on its site of a single house with integral garage. Rother District Council, the planning authority responsible for final approval of the scheme, was to be urged to carefully consider traffic access to the site.

Representing Rother District Council at the meeting, Cllr Jonathan Johnson agreed to look into the problem of frequently missed bin collections in recent months.

In answer to another question, Cllr Carl Maynard reported that no extra money for infrastructure projects had been earmarked by East Sussex County Council.

Please note in your diaries that the next meeting of the Parish Council is due to take place in the Hall on Wednesday September 21, starting at 6.30pm.

CHURCH SERVICE: At 9.30am this Sunday there will be a service of Sung Family Eucharist in St Mary’s, followed by refreshments, either in the church or in the hall.
