UPDATE: More than 1400 homes lose power after Fairlight substation fire

More than 1400 homes lost power after a fire at a substation in Fairlight this morning (Tuesday, March 22).

An electrical fault from the fire caused 1411 homes to lose power at around 11am.

After half an hour 912 properties’ electricity was restored and another 444 were back by about 12.15pm.

The last 55 homes had their power back by 2.30pm.

A UK Power Networks spokesman said: “We understand how difficult it is to be without power and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
