Veterans remember the first Gulf War
Hastings and St Leonards Veterans' Association marked the 25th anniversary of the end of hostilities of the first Gulf War with a service at Alexandra Park at the weekend.
The event was the idea of Stuart Murphy, of the Veterans’ Association. He said: “The first Gulf War is a largely forgotten conflict yet a lot of young men and women served and some lost their lives.
“It was relatively low-key as it is the first time we have done this for the first Gulf War. The 25th anniversary seemed like a good opportunity to mark it and remember and thank those who served.”
The service took place at the War Memorial in the park and was attended by Hastings Mayor Cllr Bruce Dowling. Former servicemen presented standards.
Mr Murphy said: “There was a good turn-out and we would like to thank all those who supported the event.”
