I reiterate what I put in last week: in the hope that if someone missed it, they will read it and take note now. The debriefing meeting for the flower festival has taken place. It was noted how well it had all gone despite the awful weather on the Sunday. What became very apparent is how much help we need from local people. We were a bit short this year, and the same people were trying to juggle 2 or 3 jobs. Please, Please put August Bank Holiday in your 2019 diary and offer to help. There are so many jobs one will surely suit you and you will enjoy yourself. I can guarantee that as everyone is always smiling. Friday 5 October: Brede Farmers Market in Brede Village Hall from 10am – 12noon

The plants should be back today and all the usual stalls will be inside with the fish in the foyer and meat in the porch.

Brede Short Mat Bowls are at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall.

Saturday 6 October: Rye & District NT will be holding a “Meet and Greet” at Brede Village Hall at 3pm. The purpose of this meeting is to welcome the new members and prospective new members. All members are welcome to attend, if you have any family or friends who might be interest, please bring them along. There will be a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake!

The Friends of St Mary’s Church Udimore are having ‘An Evening of Music’ featuring Duncan Reid playing St Mary’s Organ. Tickets are £10 includes a drink and canapés to reserve a ticket please contact either Sue Rowan 01424 882681 or Liz Turgoose 01424 882657

Sunday 7 October: Church Services in the Parish are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass at 9.00am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road. If you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125

At the Trinity Methodist Church the Preacher is the Reverend Helen Pattern at 10.30am. The Reverend Peggy Heim is also the Pastoral Minister and can be contacted on 01424 422350 The seat at the back of the Church is there for all to use, why not go and sit in the tranquil wildlife garden and admire the view.

‘Wag this Way’ Calling all dog lovers! Join St Michael’s Hospice for our very first sponsored 5k dog walk with your four legged friends. This family friendly event takes place at the stunning Rye Nature Reserve and as well as the walk, there will be refreshments, stalls to browse and lots of activities for you and your pooch to enjoy at the finish line. Brede WI meet at 2pm in Brede Village Hall). Their speaker is Liza Noon who is a Community Champion, for Tesco her topic is Food Wastage.This will be followed at 6pm with Brede Dog Training.

Thursday 11 October: Pilates in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15am Sally will be putting the ladies through their paces gently after the summer break at 9.30am in Brede Village Hall adult Ballet Classes are in Udimore Community Hall at 11.15am followed by The 4 Charities Soup and Scrabble lunch. £5 for soup and bread, and a one hour game of Scrabble followed by tea and cake starting at 12:00. No previous experience required and everyone is welcome to join in this enjoyable event. If you enjoy this one there are another two more. Friday 9th November, and Friday 14th December.

Pilates with Geraldine will be at 6.30pm in Brede Village Hall followed by keep fit at 8pm.

Thursday 18 October: An Afternoon Tea and Cake Party is being held at Pikiki in Furnace Lane, Brede when Janet Wells will be talking about the Papua New Guinea Partnership starting at 2:30pm. Saturday 20 October: The Friends of St George Brede present DR John Crook and his talk ‘Brede Christmas Entertainment 28 December 1899’ at 7 for 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall. Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 and Friday 26 October: Charlie Cornfords will once again be coaching children age 5 – 14 in Broad Oak Recreation Ground. Sunday 11 November: Mid Day the Bells will be rung around the Country and at Brede. Hopefully in the evening a new Beacon will be lit in Remembrance of the ending of the 1st World War, It is a work in progress and more things maybe happening that evening so keep the date free, as it is hoped many in the Parish would like to turn out and be part of the 100 years since the war ended. Friday 9th November: ‘Black and White Ball’ Join St Michael’s Hospice for their inaugural charity ball at the prestigious Montgomerie Suite, Bannatyne Hotel, Hastings. Perfect for groups of friends, family and colleagues, the theme for this year’s ball is Black and White and they are looking forward to seeing everyone dressed in their most glamorous outfits! Tickets are £45 and include a welcome drink, three course meal, and live entertainment from Magician Michael Drinkwater and the local band, ‘The Do Theys.’ Each table at the event seats 10 people and there is no minimum or maximum ticket bookings required.
