Scam: There is a telephone scam doing the rounds and some people in our Parish have been affected. The caller was offering to review Council Tax property valuations for a fee. Please, Please, do not part with money over the phone or on the doorstep. Always STOP and THNK is this real, could it be true. Ask for written confirmation; Do not give out your information at all. If at all doubtful speak to a family member or friend before doing anything. The Police are looking into this matter.

Lloyds Bank Rye: has closed, mobile buses will be used instead and here is the time table for Rye Market Car Park. Wednesdays 10am – 11.45 opening again at 12.30pm – 2.45pm. Fridays 10am – 11.30am. Please make a note of these times if you are a customer.

Friday 12 October: Brede Farmers Market in Brede Village Hall from 10am – 12noon It is lovely to stroll around the regular stall holders tables but it is even better when the people only come every other week turn up.

Saturday 13 October: The Friends of St Mary’s Church Udimore are having ‘An Evening of Music’ featuring Duncan Reid playing St Mary’s Organ. Tickets are £10 includes a drink and canapés to reserve a ticket please contact either Sue Rowan 01424 882681 or Liz Turgoose 01424 882657

Sunday 14 October: Church Services in the Parish are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass at 9.00am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road. If you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125

At the Trinity Methodist Church the Preacher is Mr Alan Hurrell at 10.30am. The Reverend Peggy Heim is the Pastoral Minister and can be contacted on 01424 422350 The seat at the back of the Church is there for all to use, why not go and sit in the tranquil wildlife garden and admire the view.

Monday 15 October: Pilates with Susan is at 9.15am in Udimore Community Hall and she can be contacted on 07858 518504 followed by the Wea Gardening course at 11.30am.

Brede Friendly Circle meet at 2pm in Brede Village Hall for their AGM and talk. This afternoon’s subject is Sweet Tooth the speaker is Lindy Alton. Each person in the group will be decorating a chocolate Christmas Tree. This will be followed at 6pm with Brede Dog Training.

Thursday 18 October: Pilates in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15am Sally will be putting the ladies through their paces gently after the summer break at 9.30am in Brede Village Hall adult Ballet Classes are in Udimore Community Hall at 11.15am The Rye & District National Trust meet at 2pm in Brede Village Hall their speaker is Alex Rider, his subject is ‘The Development of the French Harp’ I have heard he might play it too.

Pilates with Geraldine will be at 6.30pm in Brede Village Hall, followed by keep fit at 8pm

Rye & District Dementia Action Alliance Committee (RDDAA have planned a lovely music and supper evening which will take place in Rye’s Tilling Green Community Centre, TN31 7BE. Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 and Friday 26 October: Charlie Cornfords will once again be coaching children age 5 – 14 in Broad Oak Recreation Ground. Sunday 11 November: Battles Over—A Nation’s Tribute and Ringing for Peace.To help celebrate the 100th Anniversary since the end of WW1 at St George’s Church Brede. We are inviting the local community to join us in marking this important occasion. At 6.55pm we will be sounding the Last Post. Then at 7pm the new Beacon in Waterworks Lane will be lit. 7.05pm the Church Bells will ring out. More details will appear in the Church magazine for November and Brede Village Voice.
