CHURCH SERVICE: At 9.30am on Sunday there will be a Sung Family Eucharist in St Mary’s, followed by coffee or tea and biscuits in the church.
A VISION OF EDEN: At 6.30pm on Thursday, October 8, there will be an illustrated talk in the Hall about Marianne North, of Hastings. She was a talented and enterprising 19th century botanical artist, many of whose brilliant paintings of the orchids and other spectacular plants which she saw during her worldwide travels can be seen in the gallery at Kew Gardens specially dedicated to her work. This talk, by Brigadier Hugh Willing CBE, has been arranged by the Friends of the Hospital at Rye. Tickets are available by ringing the Hospital (01797 224499): the price of £15 includes wine and canapés.
SOUP & SCRABBLE: In the Hall at noon on Friday, October 9, there will be another lunchtime party in this popular series: for £5 you can enjoy a bowl of hot soup and an hour’s game of Scrabble (no previous experience needed). These are enjoyable parties, which help raise money for the Four Charities fund.
OUR CHRISTMAS FAYRE: Please make a note of the date and be sure to come along to this unmissable annual event in the Hall: Saturday November 24, 10.30am till 12.30 pm. Besides another visit by Reindeer and Father Christmas, there will also be the usual seasonal refreshments, plenty of opportunities for Christmas shopping, super raffles and other games for young and old alike. All for a modest £1!
