A woman was assaulted during a “violent and prolonged” road rage incident at Broad Oak.

The incident unfolded at around 4.30pm in Udimore Road on Monday, December 28.

A 30-year-old woman from London was driving when a pickup truck, travelling in the opposite direction, overtook parked vehicles on the side of the road and encroached into her lane.

Both the woman’s car and the pickup truck came to a stop in the middle of the road before the truck is reported to have collided with the car at low speed.

Both drivers got out of their vehicles and the woman was assaulted but not injured.

Police say there was ‘further contact’ between the two vehicles before the pickup truck drove off.

The truck driver has been described as a white man, about 5’10”, of stocky build, with short grey hair.

He is thought to be aged between 40-50-years-old.

PC Thomas Thorpe, of Sussex Police, has issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

He said: “This was a violent and prolonged altercation which happened on a busy main road.

“Anyone who saw what happened is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 984 of 28/12.”
