Part of a major link between villages was down to one lane this week following a burst water main.
Temporary traffic lights were placed in Powdermill Lane between Catsfield and Battle on Tuesday.
South East Water’s distribution manager Ann Seach said: “We were alerted to a burst on a six inch diameter water main at 8.30am on Tuesday. The repair was more complex than normal because the damaged section of pipe was underneath a telegraph pole, so we needed to work in partnership with BT.
“To ensure the safety of the public and our contractor, we put up traffic lights while the repair was carried out. It was completed today (Thursday, July 9) but our contractors will need to return to the site to carry out a permanent reinstatement of the carriageway at a later date.”
