Wendy set to fulfil Brighton Marathon promise
Wendy made the pledge to her friend John Moore, former chairman of the Arunners running club she attends, a week before he died of lung cancer, last year. It was something that affected her deeply. So much so she has dedicated herself to a gruelling training regime to be able to complete her first marathon, at the age of 65.
Now, months of training will come to a head as she readies herself to tackle the 26.2-mile course at the Brighton Marathon, on April 14, in an effort to raise cash for Cancer Research UK.

“I remember seeing him about a week before he died and he told me, “Of course you can run a marathon” and so I am.
“We all also have friends and family who have died of this awful disease or are fighting it at the moment.”
Wendy is aiming to complete the race in a respectable time of 5hours 30min,
