Services at the Parish Church: on Sunday are Holy Communion at 8am and 10am. This will be followed by lunch and an open garden afternoon at Lankhurst Farm, so let’s hope for fine weather. Ring 01424 751407 for details.
There is more good news: from Westfield School, who have won another competition. This time the football team won the Collins cup, with a 6-0 win against West St Leonards School. Congratulations to all involved.
Look out for Shakespearean: scarecrows around the village. Pick up a map from the church porch, Westfield news or visit www.westfieldvillage.co.uk. The Village Fete follows next week-end on the Parish Field from 1.30pm on Saturday, June 11. The theme marks the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, so please decorate stalls etc. or if possible come in suitable costume to join in. The organisers still need volunteers to help on the day, particularly with setting up from 9am or clearing up at the end. They would be also very grateful for donations for the Grand Draw, and these can be left at Westfield News for Annie or Pauline. Please get in touch with Annie at firstname.lastname@example.org for anything fete related.
The Westfield Draw: raises funds for Westfield Community Association as well as giving you a chance to win a cash prize every month. New members are always welcome to join. Renewals (£10) for existing members are now due. Please leave your remittance (cash, or cheques to WCA) in an envelope with your details at Westfield News for Pauline to collect.
Westfield Youth Club: urgently needs needs permanent helpers to start in September. They have now lost three members of the team due to other commitments and will not be able to carry on without the help of new volunteers. It would be very sad see this successful Youth Club close. Helpers need to be available on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 6-8pm. Please contact Min on 07952 995743 for more details.
Looking further: ahead, the mobile unit: of the East Sussex Hearing Resource Centre will be visiting Westfield on Thursday, June 23, and will be in The New Inn car park from 10.30am – 12.30pm. The bus is accessible to wheelchair users and representatives from both the East Sussex Hearing Resource Centre and Adult Social Care will provide free advice on all aspects of hearing loss. The bus is equipped to offer demonstrations of assistive equipment and hearing screening tests. For further information please contact the East Sussex Hearing Resource Centre on 01323 722505 or e-mail email@example.com. Please make sure that anyone you know with hearing problems is aware of this service.
The WCA is organising a Tea Party: for Westfield’s senior residents to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. This is in the Community Hall from 3-5pm on Saturday, June 25. Tickets are free, but need to be booked in advance by ringing Rosemary 01424 754080 or Philippa 01424 753316.
