Wick Lights Up

THE streets of Wick are extra festive this year thanks to its brand new Christmas lights.

And they were switched on by Littlehampton Mayor Wendy Squires on Sunday.

"I am so pleased that Wick has introduced such decorative and splendid lights to its High Street," she said.

The new lights were funded by the Single Regeneration Wick Initiatives and Littlehampton Town Council.

Roger Arthurs from Going Spare had been a driving force, along with the town council, to secure the money to pay for the lights.

"It's been really satisfying," Roger said. "I've been up and down the High Street asking businesses and shopkeepers whether they would be prepared to have Christmas lights on their premises and they all agreed.

"It was really great to get that sense of community and wanting to promote Wick during the festive season."

Paying tribute to Roger's efforts, Wendy added: "I am delighted that Littlehampton Town Council was able to work with people like Roger to make this occasion happen. I am also pleased to see how many shops have put up their own lights to create even more atmosphere."
