Wick man imprisoned over child sex images

A WICK man who admitted distributing more than 2,000 indecent images of children has been sent to prison.

Peter Cadwallader, of Greenfields, was sentenced to four years, at Lewes Crown Court on Friday, after pleading guilty to a number of offences, including distributing indecent images of children, possession of indecent images of children with a view to distribution, possession of indecent images of children, and possession of extreme adult pornography, at an earlier hearing.

DC Martin Harmer, of Sussex Police, said; “Cadwallader distributed a large number of indecent images of children, and these charges represent only a percentage of the distribution offences we discovered.

“The images cover a wide range of disturbing sexual offending against vulnerable young children.”

In 2009, police were told that Cadwallander was distributing the pictures, of children as young as eight.

They searched his then addresses, in Arundel Street, Brighton, in August of that year, and computer equipment was seized and forensically analysed.

DC Harmer added: “This sentence sends yet another message that we will relentlessly follow up any such information.

“The internet is not a hiding place for depravity and we will do everything in our power to trace these people and bring them to justice.”

Cadwallader was sentenced to four years for the distribution, extreme and higher level image offences, and to three years to run concurrently for other possession offences.

On his release from prison he will become subject to an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order and will be placed on the sex offender register.
