Church Market: This Sunday November 3rd there will be the monthly Church Market and all are invited to be part of this gathering. As usual there will be stalls selling home-made produce, plants and books. It is also a great opportunity to meet with friends over coffee, tea and biscuits in majestic surroundings illuminated by the stained glass windows. All proceeds are in aid of church funds.

WAS talk: On Saturday November 3rd the Winchelsea Archaeological Society has arranged a talk at 7.30pm in the New Hall. Luke Barber BA, MClfA, will be discussing ‘Archaeology of the Great War’ which focuses on WW1 battlefields by archaeological investigation. These talks are free to Society members and there is a cost of £3 for non-members who are welcome to attend.

Armistice Concert: To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice a concert will be held next Friday November 9th at 7.30pm in St Thomas’ Church. The concert is arranged by Winchelsea Arts and tickets are £14 or £7 under 18s, from the Farm Kitchen. Musicians are Shelley Levy – clarinet, Fenella Humphries – violin and Mark Nixon – piano. Ann Rachlin commère will narrate and link words with music relevant to the conflict. The music includes The Soldier’s Tale by Stravinsky and works by Elgar, Debussy and Bliss.

Christmas Fair: Once again the Annual Winchelsea Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday 10 November at the New Hall between 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. The Hall is on the A259 beside the Cricket Field. It promises to be a fun occasion for all as we have many interesting stalls ranging from Winter Bulbs grown by the Garden Society, wool products, local produce, Festive cards, jewellery and many more. This year Winchelsea Primary School will be participating by selling their own artefacts and singing to the visitors. Winchelsea New Hall has been undergoing a lot of works including a new boiler, new curtains and the entrance door is now wheelchair accessible. The New Hall Society is a Registered Charity which is still working on raising funds for ongoing improvements.

Craft Fayre: A date for your diary is the annual Christmas Crafts Fayre on Sunday November 25th. With less than a month’s shopping days to Christmas, all are welcome to this festive occasion from 11am to 4pm in the Community Hall.
