Woman plans retired life after 29 years with West Sussex libraries

Lynda Gould, 62, worked at Ferring library in Ferring Street for 19 years after ten years at Goring library in Mulberry Lane.

Mrs Gould finished her final shift at 5pm on Friday (August 19).

She said: “I am going to miss it, of course. I will miss the people I work with mostly, and then the lovely customers.

“It is a small library which gives it a unique community feel.

“I knew all the customers and they knew me. It was lovely.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to all of the customers. They arranged a collection for me and I don’t think that has ever been done so that was lovely.”
Mrs Gould is now planning the next stage of her life in retirement.

She added: “I think I will take up reading. I don’t know for certain what I will do but I will enjoy spending time at home with my dog.

“I will make sure I come back and visit the library and maybe join ‘knit and natter’ to keep up my social life.

“There is so much going on the village so I will keep myself busy.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed myself but I am glad to be leaving because it is time.

“I am going to enjoy retired life and my time at home.”
