Wragg jury discharged

Andrew Wragg, 37, denied murder but admitted manslaughter on the ground's of dimished responsibility, claiming it was a "mercy killing".

Jacob, 10, suffered from Hunter Syndrome, a degenerative condition which means sufferers rarely live beyond their teens.

Mrs Justice Rafferty discharged the jury of nine women and three men at Lewes Crown Court after they had been deliberating for 11 and a half hours.

The judge told the jury: "The unwavering attention and concentration you have given has been considerable.

"It is very important that you leave with the thanks of the court."

The Crown Prosecution Service was given seven days to decide on its course of action.

Even if there is no retrial on the murder charge, Wragg faces conviction for manslaughter.
