Let someone else have a say

Each week for at least the last three months you have published on your letters page a missive from Barry M Jones of Beckley.

This week, he says he had ‘intended summing up’ but will ‘postpone to next week’.

It seems he now presumes the right to be published every week. This would be acceptable if you employed him as a columnist but as a mere correspondent it is surely inequitable.

How does providing a weekly forum for one private individual to air his far from balanced and impartial views fit with your stated aims (printed on the same page as the letters) to ‘take an objective view’ and ‘reflect the interests and concerns of the community we serve’?

However, Mr Jones has achieved this undue influence over your newspaper and I cast no aspersions, it must be time for you to call a halt and give others a chance for the sake of your integrity. Let Mr Jones peddle his biased propaganda elsewhere.
