Well done Lord Ampthill (Cllr. David Russell) for standing up for what you stand for.
In the article regarding the non flying of the flag at half mast and indeed not at all ( Observer April 26), Town Clerk Farhall states that the council were motivated solely by a desire to act in their communities best interests. Since when have they had any real interest in the interests of the community. How did they determine what the community felt, did they spend any of their precious time polling opinions. I doubt it.
One only has to read the front page of the same publication to understand their attitude.
It’s time the community ousted these 19th Century attitudes and voted in young blood then maybe Rye will move into the 21st.
