Yvonne Robertson Summer Fair

IT MAY have been a bit blowy, with the occasional ominous looking black cloud, but thankfully the rain stayed away and many people enjoyed the Yvonne Robertson House summer fair in Bexhill last week.

The tombola quickly sold out and there was a well supplied raffle thanks to donations received from residents, their friends and families.

Games kept adults and children amused including bagattelle, face painting and 'Guess the Family Name' of the teddy bear. Stalls sold books, bric a brac, clothes, toys, plants and the jewellery stall proved popular with beaded necklaces, pretty cameo broaches, sparkling earrings and tie pins. Volunteer Joan Mckie said that they had been very lucky to have received donations of 'delightful pieces of jewellery' to sell.

One happy customer was Mrs May Lovelock, she said she was very pleased with her purchases of a pair of earrings and a broach and said she'd got, " some good bargains."

Yvonne Robertson House is a sheltered housing scheme which belongs to Sussex Housing and Care Housing Association and scheme manager Margery Doherty said that they were, "hoping to raise at least as much money as last year which was over 1,000."

The money raised today will go into a special residents fund which enables them to have trips, outings and functions.
