Choreographed by Punchdrunk’s Maxine Doyle, Bradley 4:18 is a dance performance inspired by the lyrics of spoken word artist Kate Tempest’s Pictures on a Screen, which tell the story of Bradley, a seemingly successful young man struggling to connect with the world around him. Set to a score by Mercury Award-nominated and Ivors Academy Award-winning London-based composer, arranger and alto-saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi, and composed in parallel with the choreographic creation, it is a highly atmospheric, filmic score with a modern jazz flavour. Bradley 4:18 presents the six BalletBoyz dancers as different versions of the Bradley character Bradley and how he might act at 4:18 in the morning. Celebrating their 20th anniversary, Bradley 4:18 is part of BalletBoyz’ new dance show Deluxe, a co-production with Sadler’s Wells that fuses beautiful dance with original music in the company’s unique and unmistakable style, including collaborations from some of the world’s most inventive and thought-provoking choreographers and composers.
