Star Wars is touring the UK this year - with a live orchestra

Star Wars fans will have the chance to see the original 1977 movie on the big screen again this year - complete with a live orchestral performance of John Williams' Oscar-winning score.

After three initial dates in London, the 'Star Wars: Film Concert' series hits the road in November; starting in Liverpool and concluding in December in Glasgow, calling at Bournemouth, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Leeds along the way.

This mash-up of cinema experience and concert will see the Novello Orchestra match Williams' iconic music to the images of A New Hope on screen.

"We’re delighted that Star Wars fans will have the opportunity to experience the music of the movie performed live to picture in the UK for the first time," said a Disney spokesman.

"From the opening fanfare to the final note, John Williams’ score for Star Wars: A New Hope is a genre defining master class of cinematic composition."

Tickets go on pre-sale this Wednesday (31 Jan), and on general sale from Friday (2 Feb).
