Albourne RDA group national success

After success at the RDA Regional Championships at Hickstead in June, the Albourne Riding for the Disabled group made it to the National Championships at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire on July 23 and 24.

Despite torrential rain and a broken-down horse lorry, the group braved conditions to ride well in all tests.

Martin Mathews, Jackie Lambert, Elizabeth Kelly and Laura Higgs all rode championship Dressage tests, and gaining two sixths and a fourth between them, and a well deserved third for best turned out.

Arabella Carvosso, another rider from the group came to help for the weekend, so altogether it was a team effort and though exhausting, they look forward to next year.

The group, which is based at Aldingbourne Equestrian Centre, where it meets every Tuesday morning, has been consistently represented in the national championships every year since it was formed.

The riders have achieved a significant number of wins and placings in the nationals and are constantly aiming for success.

They rely entirely on fundraising and donations to keep going, and recently received a booster from the Crawley and Horsham Hunt's sponsored ride.

Albourne RDA is desperate for helpers on a Tuesday morning from 10-12, no horsey experience required! For more information please call Flora Aldridge on 01293 562610.
