ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN AND WOMEN COMPETE
PYECOMBE Golf Club held a competition to mark the retirement of club president Ken Barnard, who is stepping down after 13 years in office. The event was for teams of four and the weather was so bad that the competition was delayed by an hour.
The format was stableford with two scores to count.
Results: 1, David Schwartz, George Eves, Richard Plummer and Vi Auchterlonie, 70 points; 2, Ken Barnard, Trevor Greenfield, John Wilkinson and Christine Honess; 3, Reg Auchterlonie, Martin Sutcliffe, Kevin Fairfax and Doreen Shafer, 65 pts. Best tryers with 49 pts: John Secrett, Graham Booker, Graham Heyes and Ros Mead.
Nearest the pin on the 18th in two: Trevor Greenfield (holed his second). Nearest the pin on the 15th: Bob Lancashire (holed second shot). Nearest the pin on the eighth: Richard Plummer.
