A number of the seniors produced strong runs in the Virgin Money London Marathon and the juniors also fared well in a UK Youth Development League fixture.

Daniel Anderson led the contingent in London with a solid run of 2:41.21, while Gary Foster ran really well to clock 2:54.54 having only done roughly half marathon distance in training.

Matt Craddock, a new runner at the club, clocked 3:03 and Stacey Clusker ran an excellent race to finish in 3:07.46.

Carlo Forte clocked a decent 3:24.11 in his first marathon despite missing two months of training after breaking ribs while skiing.

The Hastings AC party was completed by Dean Garry (3:41.34), Adam Osman (3:51.17) and Martyn Cooper (4:48).

Two of the club’s most promising young talents performed splendidly in London’s Mini Marathon. Maya Ramnarine and Amalie Primdal finished 38th and 59th respectively out of around 1,500 runners.

Hastings AC came third, meanwhile, in the Youth Development League South East Division Two fixture in Gillingham - a good result considering they were without around 10 athletes, including some of their leading performers.

Highlights included Harmony Cooper running very well to win the under-15 girls’ 1,500m and Beth Magorrian, 11, winning the under-13 girls’ B string 800m at her first ever track meeting.

The girls’ 4x300m relay team of Evie Clements, Cooper, Lucy Knight and Nell Gransen finished 17 seconds clear of the field, while Shannon Hopkins-Parry came first in the under-13 girls’ 1,200m.

Second places were achieved by Erik Griffith, Erika Body, Alana Hughes, Knight, Gransen, Teddy Clements, Joe Frankham, Noah Judah, William Cooper, Isaac Elam, Dylan Bolton and James Crombie, plus the boys’ 4x300m relay team of Bolton, Toby Salmon, Crombie and Elam.
