ARUNDEL NUDGE OUT NIGEL

TIGHT STUFF at Arundel on Saturday afternoon.

The result between the early-season leaders and reigning champions Findon was always in doubt, especially when Findon's No 10, Jason Nicholls, struck a potentially matchwinning pair of sixes to take his team to within 12 of their victory target of 138 with two overs remaining.

Left-arm spinner Neil Chitty bowled the penultimate over, and the first five balls yielded the requisite six runs '“ a two and a four '“ before Nicholls tried to repeat his boundary effort, got an edge and was caught behind by Richard Thomson to give Arundel a five-run success.

Chitty and Steve Mullen both finished with four wickets, but the bowling performance of the match came from Findon captain Nigel Waller. He bowled unchanged and was into his 26th over when he completed figures of 9-80.
