BENN HITS MAIDEN TON

BENN CHALLEN produced a match winning performance with both bat and ball to help Littlehampton beat St James at the Sportsfield on Saturday.

Challen hit 103 not out '” his maiden Sussex League century after only four innings '” to steer Littlehampton to victory after he had earlier bowled fifteen overs of spin, taking 4-40.

St James won the toss and elected to bat scoring 183, they should have scored more but tailed off towards the end and lost their last seven wickets for just 60 runs.

Simon Warrinder top scored with 61, an innings which consisted seven fours before he was caught behind by Andy Northcote off Challen. Warrinder was in a 52-run partnership with Mark Gardner for the fourth wicket, but a misunderstanding between the two led to Gardner being run out by Challen for 47.
