Scott is through to the semi-finals of the men's double trap event after finishing fourth in the qualification phase this afternoon (Wednesday).

The 32-year-old totalled 138/150 for the five qualification rounds to finish two targets behind Andreas Loew (Germany) and James Willett (Australia), and one adrift of fellow Team GB shooter Tim Kneale.

The top six shooters will contest the semi-finals, from which the top two will advance to the gold medal match and the next two to the bronze medal match. The scores from the qualification stage will not carry over to the semi-finals, which will get under way at 7pm. The bronze medal match will follow at 7.15pm and the gold medal match at 7.25pm.

Scott was tied third after hitting 28/30 in the opening round, but dropped back to eighth after scoring 25 in round two. A third round score of 27 nudged him back up to sixth, and 29s in the final two rounds gained him a further place in each.

Scott’s selection for the Games was confirmed way back in November last year - three months after he earned an Olympic ‘quota’ place for Team GB by winning a silver medal at the Gabala 2015 World Cup.

A double World Championship bronze medallist, Scott - who is coached by Ahmed Al Maktoum and is 10th in the world double trap rankings - was victorious at the ISSF World Cup Final in Nicosia, Cyprus, last October.
