SUSSEX Polo Club at Rowfant, West Sussex, is home for the Old Surrey and Burstow Pony Club, which has produced three of the UK's winning Junior polo teams for the last three years.

That strong tradition was continued earlier this month when the Pony Club celebrated its 50th anniversary of polo when Pony Club teams from all over the country took part in a championship at Cowdray Park.

Preliminary rounds culminated in the finals on the hallowed 'Lawns 1' at Cowdray Park Polo Club when four young Rowfant riders took the silverware.

The Old Surrey and Burstow Handley Cross team won the event, with members Alice Walsh, Terence Lent, Harry Hickmet and Emily Collins, all aged from 11-13, making up the victorious team.

They will be in action again on Sunday at Sussex Polo Club at Home Farm, Wallage Lane, Rowfant for the Terence Lent Trophy.
