Tom Pritchard of Hampshire Road Club overcame breezy conditions to record 19.56 for the ten-mile ride – a particularly satisfying result on an evening when most struggled to maintain their form or went backwards.

Pritchard was clearly on form having ridden a ten-miler the previous evening and had been just outside the mark by a handful of seconds.

For most, one all-out effort a week is enough to make the legs turn to planks but Pritchard managed it on two consecutive evenings.

The A27 course has not experienced a sub 20-minute ride for a long time so the evening was very special for all who attended.

The challenge now is to see if the mark can be reduced even further.

Meanwhile the main field saw only one lady ride – Elise Sherwell of Blazing Saddles taking the honours uncontested.

Michael Attfield of BRCC was fastest junior with an excellent 22-minute ride.
