Darts: Ton-up scores get league off to a flyer

They were Terry Markey (149), Cliff Prior (130), Rob Palmer (120), Mick Rowland (112), Joe Costa (112), Ricky Clarke (108), Barry Foster (105), Harry Annals (101), Charlie Carr (100), Simon Bradley (100), Pete Mitchell (100) and Adi Nichols (100). Three 180s were recorded in the first week, by Gary Blackwood, Rob Palmer and Ian Denby.

The shortest leg recorded in week one was by Cliff Prior and Barry Foster, both recording a 17-dart leg.

PLAY AT THE LAKESIDE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Maximum Darts held their first competition in the area with the Wick Open, attracting a field of 50 to make it a huge success.

Bognor player Cliff Prior, making his second successive final, produced the best performance from Observer-area entrants.

His opponent in the final was Sussex county A player Dan Waller. Prior was unable again to pick up his first open win this season, losing 5-3 in a close-fought final.

The ladies singles was won by Worthing’s Julie Saldanha, beating Anneka Ewing from Leatherhead 3-0.

The blind pairs was won by Lee Gladman (Worthing) and Phil Forest (Lancing). beating Bognor’s Graeme Dutton and partner in the final.

In the youth event Sussex county player Joe Davis came through a five-leg final to win 3-2 against Worthing’s Jorden Langridge.

Sussex Super League

Littlehampton won 7-2 when they played host to Mid Sussex in one of their most important games of the season.

Littlehampton took the first two games with man of the match Terry Howse (25.91) winning 3-0 and Mick Rowland winning 3-2. Mid Sussex took the third game as Adi Linfield’s nightmare continued, losing 3-2.

Midhurst brothers Andy Hills (3-2) and Jason Hills (3-2) made the lead 4-1. Mid Sussex pulled another game back when James Stephenson lost 3-1.

Littlehampton took the last three games, with Gary Blackwood (3-0), Cliff Prior (3-1) and Craig Stoner (3-2) giving them a 7-2 win and the bonus points.
