Davis cruises into semi-finals

Mark Davis is through to the semi-finals of a full ranking event for the first time in his 21-year professional snooker career.

The St Leonards potter whitewashed former world champion Graeme Dott 5-0 in the quarter-finals of the Wuxi Classic in China this morning (Friday).

World number 19 Davis got off to the ideal start by winning the opening frame and then came from behind to take the second on the black.

He also bagged the third and fourth to lead 4-0 at the interval, and wasted little time in finishing off world number 13 Dott upon the resumption.

Davis, who was making his fourth appearance in the quarter-finals of a full ranking event, will take on Stuart Bingham in the last four tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

Bingham, ranked 16, has made a blistering start to the 2012/13 season, winning the Pink Ribbon Pro-Am in Gloucester and Asian Players Tour Championship event one. He pipped world number one Mark Selby 5-4 in his quarter-final.

Davis, 39, came through the qualifiers before beating home favourite Ding Junhui 5-2 in round one on Tuesday, Jamie Burnett 5-3 in round two yesterday and now world number 13 Dott.
